Malta: Withdraws from ESF |
29 NOVEMBER 2016 - The EBO has revealed that a total of 44 countries will compete in Estonia! Malta has confirmed it wouldn't take part, but Kazakhstan and Austria has confirmed that they will debut this edition!

29 NOVEMBER 2016 - PBS from Malta has confirmed that they will withdraw from the Eurovision Song Festival. Malta reached the last place in the semi-final last edition. Malta is the first country to announce its withdrawal.

28 NOVEMBER 2016 - The last 2 days, nine countries confirmed their participation. The countries are: Ukraine (national final -> final at the 7th of December), Latvia (national final -> final at the 12th of December), Moldova, Romania, Serbia, UK (national final -> final at the 4th of December), Germany (national final -> final at the 3rd of December), Netherlands and Iceland (national final -> final at the 10th of December).

28 NOVEMBER 2016 - NRK from Norway has confirmed that Norway will not debut in this edition, as the interest n the country is very low. NRK did broadcast the last edition, with only 108,417 viewers tuning in. Eurovision normally attracts near the 1 milion viewers.

26 NOVEMBER 2016 - The Georgian Public Broadcaster, GPB, has confirmed that Georgia will take part in the Eurovision Song Festival 2. Georgia will select by an internal selection.

26 NOVEMBER 2016 - LRT has confirmed that Lithuania will take part in the second edition after a successful 19th placing in the final last edition. Lithuania will select at the 8th of December, with the semi-final being hold at the 1st of December.

26 NOVEMBER - The presenters, the logo and a few participating countries are confirmed. The logo you can see above. The presenters are Getter Jaani and Koit Toome. They will also perform the opening act. And the first countries have confirmed participation. The countries that have confirmed are all of the Big 6 countries: Estonia (host), Hungary, Azerbaijan, Poland, Spain and Armenia. Azerbaijan has confirmed to hold their national final at the 2nd of December and Hungary will hold its semi-finals at the 29th and 30th of November, with their final staging at the 7th of December. Estonia will hold its semi-finals at the 29th of November, the 5th of December and the final at the 12th of December. Poland will hold the semi-final at the 2nd of December and the final at the 9th of December.

26 NOVEMBER 2016 - The EBO and EER has decided the host the contest in the biggest venue of the canidates, the Saku Arena! The capacity of the venue is 10,000. The selection went like this:
9.55 - Pärnu kontserdimaja isn't a special venue and very small. 9.57 - Kuressaare piiskopilinnus is a very special venue, but very small. A contest can't be hosted in it. So, Tallinn will host! |
